Aventures in France Days 5&6

 Day 5

Can you tell which place was my favourite :)

Friday was a scorcher so we decided to make the most of it and went to Brantome (my favourite place we visited). Brantome is in the Dordogne, they call it 'Le petite Venice' meaning the little venice as the Monks built the town surrounded by water. As soon as I stepped out the car it took my breathe away...a truly beautiful place, the place I think I want to get married :P

Everything in Brantome is soo colourful from the flowers to the ice cream.  Every Friday there is a market like the one we went to previously on Wednesday selling handmade bracelets, baskets and food etc.We got there just in time for the 11am boat trip which was lovely. We paid our 7euros 50 and road the boat down the river for 50mins learning all about the town of Brantome which was very interesting.

To cool down we stopped by a little ice cream shop (which was built into the caves) and the choices where amaaazing. I never knew you could get so many flavours of ice cream. I opted for a tub of 3....mango, strawberry and blackberrys so yummy my mouth waters at the thought of it.

There are many little interesting shops the one that we both liked was the glass making shop ( The name escapes me) He made the most amazing things from glass I have never seen such intricate and beautiful pieces such as paper weights and jewellery.  I wanted to go back and get a ring ( would have taken me a while to decide which one) but the shop had closed....an excuse to go back next time :)

Day 6

Mr sunshine was out again which was great so we took a trip to St Mathieu lake again for a shot of the pedalos that we had been looking forward to trying.

We enjoyed Brantome so much that we decided to return the next night for dinner and see all the sights in the evening. Ordering dinner really brought my high school/basic french into action I don't think I did too bad We all had a few laughs at me but whats new.

We both loved Brantome such a beautiful place with lots of history I cant wait to go back might actually grab myself a shinning glass ring.
Hope my photos didn't bore you, I had so many for Brantome I struggled deciding.

Adventures in France Day 3 & 4

Feeling like a like housewife by now from all the sweeping up, making breakfast and doing the washing up  (mark wasn't too bad at helping...surprising as he cooked me dinner every night)
Wednesday morning, the weather was picking up but still a few cheeky clouds lurking around so we headed off to Pieguet (I think that is how you spell it) for a morning market which was rather big and super busy.  One womans products caught my eye which where the cutest little wooden plant pot men/ladies I have ever seen...so we bought one for my mum and dad to keep at the house. Meet Francine :)

That night before dinner we took a drive to St Mathieu lake for an evening stroll which was lovely.  Again there is activities for kids to do on the way round such as climbing and monkey bars etc and again Mark had lots of fun trying.

Thursdays weather was great and we decided to drive a little further to yet another lake called Bussiere Galant. At each lake there is lots to do no matter what age you are, from mini golf, to fishing and if you were just wanting to relax, cafes and some sand to catch some rays. Bussiere was a bit different to the other 2 as here you could ( if you felt brave) go up the trees and make your way through an assault course and to finish, a flying fox right across the lake. It was too cold in the shade of the trees so we didn't bother with that...really I was just being a woos :l...so we just took a wonder round and took a few snapshots.

Adventures in France. Days 1 & 2

Welcome to Saint Mathieu

photo cred Mark
So I'm now back in Scotland sadly after having an amazing week in France, holidays go by far too quickly, we work our butts off to get away and then poof it's gone.
I have decided to write my next few blog posts about my holiday adventures as diary entries so I'll begin with the 4 hour drive to Liverpool at 2am which was hard I'm not going to lie  (+ it was my first long distance drive great time to choose eh)  but we got there alive and safe right on schedule.

Day One  in France
We just concentrated on getting to the house and the pool up and running. Me being a tad bit OCD I had to give the house a quick once over before chilling out. After a stroll through the sweet little village (my favourite was all the little houses with all their different coloured shutters) we crashed out.

We drove about 20 minutes from the house to a man made lake called ST Estephe lac which was lovely. Although we drove everyday to somewhere different it didn't feel long because the roads where surrounded by beautiful scenery (sunflower fields, vin yards, and sweet little French houses all with different coloured shutters).
All around the lake there are activities for children as there are a lot of school trips (such as fitness equipment which we had a lot of fun with). The real fun part was how we crossed the lake to the other side, as you couldn't walk all the way round, we turned a huge wheel to pull a boat over and once aboard we (mark) pulled us both across by rope...lots of fun for me as I was too busy taking pictures while leaving Mark to all the hard work.
A great snack (fattening snack) is a 'mascottie' with nutella...amazing. A 'mascottie' is a huge doughnut cut in half with nutella, lots of nutella spread over...yum (note to self must get another one).

After our adventures we just went back and chilled out by the pool. Here are a few of our photo's
